Based on funding received under the Ministry of Education’s Aim for the Top University Project “priority educational resources” scheme, IMC has invested over $0.8 million to renovate and upgrade the computer facilities in its Digital Multimedia Lab (Room 1021). There are currently seven Mac Pro computers, each equipped with 27-inch monitors and Quad-Core processors, and installed with image-processing software Final Cut Pro X, for students to practice visual-storytelling as preparation for future career demands.

Professor Ping Shaw, Head of IMC, points out that although the threshold to media production has been lowered by advances in media technologies, professional production techniques still require rigorous training. Our updated facilities are on par with professional-level facilities, and will most definitely be beneficial for improving students’ visual and verbal communication abilities.
